What changes are being made to cancer services?
We are putting more resources into the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer, meaning patients are seen and treated more quickly. We will encourage patients to attend screening appointments and to raise any worries with their GP. We are also considering pooling the resources of St George’s, Epsom, St Helier and the Royal Marsden hospitals to create a new cancer centre for routine surgery – but only if this can be shown to improve results. The Royal Marsden Partners Cancer Vanguard is mobilising its work plan and is aligned to the STP.
